Kristian Grostad is a Norwegian singer-songwriter, hailing from Steinkjer, a small town in Norway that sits on one of the country’s many mighty fjords. Born into a musical home, Kristian’s early years were filled with a wide variety of genres and instruments but he didn’t find his own path until later as a teenager when he received his own guitar as a gift and began writing his own music. His move to Oslo not long after inspired a new wave of creativity by meeting a new city, new relations, and a new chapter of his life.
In 2015, he released his debut single “Apple Trees and the Sound of Bees”, which made waves regionally and was featured by local press and radio as ”one of the best debut singles”. This caught the attention of national radio as well, being called a ”positive and nice pop jewel”. The steam continued to build following the next release, leading to more national press and even some international acclaim from leading blog Indieshuffle. This caught the attention of highly acclaimed musician and producer Even Ormestad (A-ha, Jaga Jazzist, Thom Hell) and they got to work recording ”On the Run EP” the following winter. The two singles, ”Slowly Drowning” and ”On the Run”, were featured on exclusive Scandinavian Spotify playlists and featured by Norwegian radio.
Riding the positive buzz around the EP release, Kristian spent 2018 touring Norway, at stops such as Trondheim Calling, Steinkjerfestivalen, and Parkteatret (Oslo), and John Dee (Oslo).
On April 23, 2021, he released his debut album 'Toxic Sea'.
